God Still Heals Today
Shauna never expected to become a testimony of God’s healing power.
While she was dealing with a large kidney stone, several coworkers gathered around her one morning before classes began. They laid hands on her and prayed for her healing in the name of Jesus.
Shauna had never experienced anything like it. The idea of people laying hands on someone and praying for physical healing was unfamiliar to her. She wondered whether such prayers amounted to a placebo effect—something that helped people feel better simply because they believed it would. She wasn’t convinced that Jesus still healed people today.
Then everything changed.
An Unexpected Healing
The next day, Shauna told the teacher group that she had been healed. The kidney stone had passed, and she was amazed by its size—and that she had passed it without needing to be hospitalized.
For Shauna, this was difficult to explain away. Her coworkers had prayed in the name of Jesus, and she had experienced something she never expected.
Her surprise opened the door to a deeper question: Could Jesus really be who the Bible says He is? Could He still be healing people today?
What began as a need for physical healing became a doorway to faith.
Faith Takes Root at Home
The following week, Shauna attended a prayer meeting where someone prophesied that her son, Grayson, would receive a healing anointing so that when he prayed for people, they would be healed.
Shauna went home, laid hands on her son, and prayed over him, imparting that prayer and declaration of a healing anointing.
The woman who had once questioned whether this kind of prayer was real was now praying over her own son in faith.
The very next night, Shauna’s sister called asking for prayer. She, too, had a kidney stone—just one week after the Lord had healed Shauna.
Grayson got on the phone and began praying for his aunt, declaring in the name of Jesus that she would be healed.
Praise God! The next morning, Shauna’s sister woke up and passed the kidney stone, which was several millimeters large. She was healed!
Within two weeks, this family had two testimonies of healing to celebrate. Shauna had received prayer, prayed over her son, and then heard him pray for her sister.
The Same Jesus Today
Hebrews 13:8 declares:
“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.”
The Jesus who healed the sick 2,000 years ago has not changed. His compassion, His authority, and His power remain.
Isaiah 53:5 reminds us, “By His wounds we are healed.” And James 5:14–15 calls believers to pray for the sick, affirming that “the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up.”
These Scriptures invite us to bring our needs before the Lord and pray with faith in His power and love.
Shauna wasn’t looking for a miracle. Yet her experience caused her to reconsider what she believed—and then to step out in faith herself. Her testimony soon became part of her family’s testimony as Grayson prayed for his aunt.
Through it all, the glory belongs to Jesus.
